Configure the layout of the homepage

  • Updated

Who can use this feature?

  • Platform admins can add, delete, reorder, and configure any widget on the layout of the homepage.
  • Accessible on the web application.

The homepage is composed of sections called widgets. Platform admins can add, delete, reorder, and configure the widgets to tailor the initial view for users and offer quick access to training and learning resources.

While the overall homepage layout is the same for all web app users in your organization, what users actually see on the homepage, and what widgets are available for admins to configure, depends on a few factors.

About homepage widget availability and display

For any widget to appear on the homepage of the end-user, specific conditions must be met:

  • Widget availability: Many widgets only become available on the homepage layout configuration panel if their underlying platform features (like the Skills solution, the catalog, or learning needs) are active. If these core features are not enabled, platform admins won't be able to add the corresponding widget to the homepage.
  • Conditional display: Some widgets (or their content) will dynamically appear or disappear on the user homepage based on the presence of relevant content, specific user roles, or other contextual factors.

Use the table below to understand the conditions that determine whether a widget can be added or displayed on the homepage, and any specific requirements for its content to appear for the end-user.

The widget itself can always be added to the layout.

Catalog must be activated for the In-progress training sub-section to appear.

Recommended based on your skills profile Skills solution must be activated.

For personalized recommendations to be generated, a skills profile must be present.

Recommended for you Catalog must be activated. This widget only displays if the platform meets a minimum threshold: 50 courses with at least one attempt, and 50 users who have attempted at least one course.
Learning Needs Learning Needs feature must be activated for at least one group.

This section is only visible if the user is a member of at least 1 group with the Learning Needs feature activated.

If there are no visible learning needs for the user, a button inviting them to create one is displayed (the widget is not hidden, but content changes).

Tags Sections for individual tags will display if the admin selects tags and relevant content is present.
