Add users who already have an account on another 360Learning platform

  • Updated

As of August 21st 2024, users can use the same email address for multiple 360Learning platforms.

This applies to all users, regardless of how they were added to the platform (invitation, manual set-up, CSV import, API, or integrations).

While users can have the same email across different platforms, users cannot have more than one account with the same email in a single platform (email aliases still remain useful for handling multiple accounts on a single platform).

Edit the active account’s email address

If the user has platform administrator privileges on the platform where their account exists, ask them to edit their email address.

Otherwise, ask them to contact a platform administrator to do the action in their stead.

If the user is in a situation where neither is possible, send us a message from the product widget, with:

  • the current email address of the account to be changed;
  • the new email address for the account;
  • the user’s written consent.

Once the email address is changed, you can use the old email address to add the user to your platform.

Delete the active account

If the user is the owner of a Team platform, you can ask them to cancel their subscription, then delete all platform data.

If the user’s account belongs to a platform where they are not a platform administrator, ask them to contact a platform administrator to delete their account.

If the user cannot contact the administrator, send us a message from the product widget, with:

  • the email address of the account to delete;
  • the written consent of the user.

Once the account has been deleted, you can register them.

Register the user by using an email alias

An email alias is a variation of an existing email address. The 360Learning platform interprets them as two separate accounts, but notifications for the email alias are sent to the inbox of the existing email address.

To register the user with an email alias, add #something or +something before the @ (something can be replaced by any text).

Example:

  • Ada Lovelace already has an account on platform A, with the following credentials:
    • Username: ada.lovelace@domain.com
    • Password: platformA
  • You can register Ada Lovelace to platform B with an email alias:
    • Username: ada.lovelace#platformB@domain.com
    • Password: platformB
  • Ada can access platform A by entering her credentials for platform A, and platform B by entering her credentials for platform B.
  • Ada receives notifications from platforms A and B in her regular inbox.

For more information about logging into multiple platforms with different email aliases, see Log in with email aliases.
