The main author and co-authors of the course, the editors and admins from the course’s owner group, and platform administrators can edit courses, even after they have been shared or added to a path.
To edit the owner group, estimated duration, source language, or question gating, see Edit the settings of a course. To add, edit, or delete activities, see Edit the contents of a course.
Editing the same course in multiple browsers or tabs can lead to lost changes.
Edit the cover picture of a course
- At the top of the homepage, click Courses.
- On the right of the course row, click
Edit.
- In Course Setup, at the top right of the cover picture, click
Change media.
- Import a new file, or reuse an existing one. The image must be at least 980x250 pixels. See Image sizes and ratios for the recommended format.
You can also edit the existing cover picture by clicking Edit, instead of
Change media. This option is only available for uploaded images. It changes the image for every course that shares it, including copied courses.
The cover picture appears:
- On the course homepage.
- On course thumbnails, such as on dashboards, in the newsfeed, in search results, and in path steps.
- In the mobile app, cropped to fit each view.
See Image sizes and ratios for how each view displays it. Without a cover picture, the platform shows a default image.
Edit the title and summary of a course
- At the top of the homepage, click Courses.
- On the right of the course row, click
Edit.
- Below the cover image, click on the title, and enter a new one.
- In Summary of presentation, click into the text box and enter a new summary.
Changes are saved automatically. The title is required. The summary accepts formatting, images, and documents.
The title and summary appear:
- On the course homepage.
- On course thumbnails. Thumbnails show the summary as plain text, without formatting or media.
- In search results. Search looks at both, and gives the title the most weight.
- In reports, as Course and Text description in course statistics exports.
- In Data Connect.
The title also appears in email notifications about the course, such as comment emails. Changing the title does not change certificates, which show the name of the path.
Edit the presentation type of a course
- At the top of the homepage, click Courses.
- On the right of the course row, click
Edit.
- In Course Setup, select the Presentation type.
- Slideshow: Activities are presented sequentially. Learners play every activity in the course individually, before moving to the next activity. Comments and reactions appear at the bottom of each activity. Question gating is always on.
- Single Page: Activities are presented as a group. Learners play every activity in the course in a single, scrolling view. Reactions appear below each activity. You can turn question gating on or off.
In the mobile app, every course plays as a slideshow.
Changing the presentation type applies to learners in progress the next time they open the course. It does not change their progress or the course statistics.
Courses created from SCORM or other eLearning files have no presentation type.
Edit the skills of a course
Skills appear on the course homepage and in the Skills search filter.
Edit the custom fields of a course
See Assign a custom field value to a course or a path session.
Edit the tags of a course
Tags appear in the Tags search filter, in the Tags filter of course statistics, and in the Tags column of course statistics exports.
