Enable login without a password

  • Updated

Platform administrators can enable this feature in the platform settings to simplify logging in across multiple platforms and remove the need for passwords.

Once this feature is enabled, users who have activated their account by creating their own password will have the option to log in without a password. When logging in without a password, they will only need to enter an email address (with or without an alias), and they will receive an email containing links to access all of their assigned platforms.

Email security tools such as Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (Safe Links) and Mimecast automatically visit URLs in emails to scan for threats. This consumes the single-use token before the user clicks it, and users see an "expired link" error. IT admins can prevent this by configuring a URL bypass policy for the 360Learning domain in their security software. If your organization uses SSO, consider disabling this feature instead.

Links are single-use and valid for one hour by default. If a link expires, users can request a new one.

This feature was previously known as Magic link.

Enable login without a password

  1. In the left sidebar, hover over the platform group (the one with a golden crown), then click gear.svg Settings.
    • If settings.svg Settings doesn't appear in your sidebar, click on the platform group first, then click settings.svg Settings in the top right of the main section.
  2. On the left, click Advanced.
  3. Under Access & Security, enable Activate login without password.

Once enabled, users will see a new option when logging into the platform: Login without a password.

With this option available, users will only need to enter their email address (with or without an alias), then click Send me a login link email. Doing so will display a message telling them that they will receive an email with links to access all of their assigned platforms.

The user can then access all of their assigned platforms from that message by clicking on the associated platform link within that email.

Email notifications for email aliases are sent to the inbox of the primary email address. Users with more than 500 aliases will not receive the login link email.

Disable login without a password

If you’ve customized the URL of your platform, you can force users to log in with their email and password and deactivate the password-free login method.

To disable login without a password:

  3. Under Access & Security, disable Activate login without password.

Following these steps will remove the Login without a password option from the login screen.
