Overview of the navigation

Navigation screenshot

Top navigation menu (1)

The top navigation menu appears on most pages (except in the course player and editors). It provides quick access to core functions:

  • Search
  • Create: users, content, projects, groups, or learning needs
  • Notifications
  • Your profile

Breadcrumbs show your current location and let you navigate back through previous pages.

Filtering objects with the chip bar (2)

Below the top menu, the chip bar offers filters to navigate specific object types: Users, Groups, Courses, Paths, Classrooms, Certificates, and Learning Needs.

Select Show more to see less frequently used chips, such as Validations, Collaborative Activities, Tags, and Projects.

Note: You'll only see the chips that match your permissions with the current group.

Workspace navigation (3)

Use the left sidebar to control your view of objects and switch between global and group-specific content.

  • Home workspace: Your global view, showing objects across all groups. Access your homepage, configure its layout, and view general analytics, including the general dashboard, custom reports, and custom path dashboards.
  • Group workspaces: A focused view, showing objects only for the selected group. Access a group page, configure its layout, set group-specific settings, and view its analytics.

Access your profile

  1. At the top right, click on your profile picture.

From your profile settings, you can:

Access your homepage

  1. In the left sidebar, click home.svg Home.

For more information about the content of your homepage, see Access content from the homepage.

Access your group page

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.

In the left sidebar of the web app, groups are organized in the following order:

  1. Platform group priority: If you have access to the platform group, it will always appear in the 1st position. You can recognize the platform group by the golden crown at the bottom right of its icon.
  2. Recent groups: If you have access to more than 5 groups, the 5 most recently viewed groups will be displayed next. These recent groups are listed with the most recently viewed first.
    • Note: If you have access to the platform group, only the 4 most recently viewed groups will be shown.
  3. Alphabetical order: All other groups that you have access to will be listed alphabetically after the platform and recent groups.

For more information about the content of your group page, see Access content from a group page.

Access analytics

Admins, coaches, editors, contributors, and owners can access the dashboard analytics for different platform objects (courses, users, paths, etc.) on the homepage and any group page. The data displayed depends on their permissions.

To access:

  • General analytics (system-wide): In the left sidebar, click bar.svg General analytics to view:
    • The General dashboard
    • Custom reports
    • Custom path dashboards
  • Group analytics (specific group view): In the left sidebar, hover over a group, then click bar.svg Go to group analytics to open the group dashboard.
  • Object-specific analytics (contextual): From the homepage or a group page, click on object chips (for example, Courses, Users, Paths) to view analytics specific to that object.

For more information, see Track analytics.

Access custom reports

Platform admins, groups admins, coaches, authors, and managers can build a new custom report and access saved reports.

  1. In the left sidebar, click bar.svg General analytics.
    • If bar.svg General analytics doesn’t appear in your sidebar, click All at the top of the homepage, then click bar.svg Statistics at the top left.
  2. At the top, select Custom Reports.

For more information about custom reports, see Export a custom report.
