Use AI to transform a document into a course

  • Updated

Admins and authors can upload a PDF file when creating a new course, instead of creating everything from scratch. Our AI assistant Robyn will adapt the contents of that file to create a fully-filled 360Learning course.

The generated course will contain:

  • a title and a summary — which may or may not be identical to the document;
  • between 3 and 10 cheat sheets — each with a title, a formatted text body, and an Unsplash image related to the topic;
  • AI-generated questions after each cheat sheet (alternating between Single selection, Multiple Choice, and True/False) — unless there is not enough information in the cheat sheet;
  • and a final cheat sheet called "Takeaways" — containing the original PDF, downloadable by learners.

Create a course

  1. At the top right of the homepage, click plus.svgCourse.
  2. Click Document.
  3. Drag & drop the PDF file into the window, or click OR SELECT A FILE and select the file from your computer. The PDF file must:
    • contain between 500 characters (1 page) and 100,000 characters (50 pages);
    • be in one of the languages supported by the platform;
    • contain text (we do not process images) — ideally structured in paragraphs, rather than tables or slides.

The course generation starts immediately, we will send you an email when it’s complete. Click OK, THANKS to close the pop up.

If the course generation is successful, you will receive this email.

If the course generation has failed, you will receive this email. Check that the PDF file meets the criteria listed in step 3, above.

Those emails are sent even if the user uploading the PDF file has all their notifications muted.

Add guidelines for course creation

Admins can add guidelines for the AI assistant to generate courses that align with your company culture, pedagogy goals and compliance.

Add guidelines for company culture

Company culture lets you tweak the tone of voice.

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right, click gear cog.svg Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Company culture.
  4. In Tone of voice, click the dropdown menu and select an option.
    • You can select a preset tone of voice, or select Custom and describe it with your own words.

Add guidelines for pedagogy

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right, click gear cog.svg Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Pedagogy.
  4. In Course setup, add instructions regarding the course title and summary.
  5. In Duration, click the dropdown and select an option for the maximum course duration (short, medium or long). The AI will determine the number of cheat sheets based on that duration.
  6. In Content, enable or disable Include Key Takeaways. If enabled, the AI will automatically generate a summary cheat sheet at the end of the course, with the list of key takeaways.
  7. Enable or disable Knowledge check.
    • If enabled, click the dropdown below Number of questions per activity and select the number of questions to be generated after each cheat sheet.
    • If disabled, the AI will not generate any questions.

Add guidelines for compliance

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right, click gear cog.svg Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Compliance.
  4. In the text area, add freeform instructions regarding your compliance requirements. Example topics are listed within the text box if it is empty.

Compliance usually concerns:

  • Data security
  • Confidentiality
  • Labor protection (including DEI)
  • Environmental law, etc.

The AI will check if generated contents are compliant, and underline parts that are considered non-compliant.

It will check also check if generation contents are in relation to different compliance topics provided in the prompt, if yes, it’ll add reference to those compliance laws. For example, if a user generates a course mentioning personal data, AI will automatically add reference to GDPR.
