Configure a text widget

Who can create a text widget?

  • Platform admins can configure a text widget on:
    • The homepage
    • Any group page
  • Group admins can configure a text widget for their specific group page.

Where can learners view the text widget?

  • Learners can view the content of a text widget on the web & mobile app.

A text widget is a block of text that you can add to your homepage or a group page to share personalized messages with users, such as welcome notes or informational text blocks.

Here's how it works:

  • Each text widget can include a title and a body of text.
  • The widget's height automatically adjusts to its content. If the text is too long (about half the page), it becomes expandable.
  • You can add multiple text widgets to a page.
  • You can change the placement of the text widget on the page, along with other widgets. To learn more about available widgets and how to arrange them, see:
  • If your organization uses the Globalization solution, the widget can be translated into each user’s preferred language.

Create a text widget

  1. Access the page layout configuration panel:
    • For the homepage: In the left sidebar, click group-page-layout.svg Homepage layout.
      • If group-page-layout.svg Homepage layout doesn’t appear, click group-page-layout.svg Configure page layout at the top right of your homepage.
    • For a group page: In the left sidebar, hover over a group and click group-page-layout.svg Configure page layout.
      • If group-page-layout.svg Configure page layout doesn’t appear, click on the group first, then click group-page-layout.svg Configure page layout at the top right of the main section.
  2. In the Configure page layout panel on the right, in the Add section, click Text.
  3. Enter a Title (250 characters maximum) and Your text.
    • The title is pre-formatted to match other section titles on the page.
    • The body of text supports basic formatting (bold, italics, strike-through, underline, lists) and links.
  4. At the bottom right, click Apply.

The amount of text displayed depends on the learner's browser window size, zoom settings, and whether the newsfeed right panel is expanded or hidden.
