Enable shared mode on the mobile app

Coaches, group admins, platform admins, and platform owners can select courses to be downloaded for shared mode devices. All users can enable shared mode on their own device.

Shared mode enables users to train offline by automatically downloading a list of courses to a device, and helps users share devices by letting them complete offline training on the same device without impacting each other’s stats.

Shared mode is not available on the new player. To check which player you are using, click Create → Course. If the modal shows eLearning standard, you are on the new player. On the new player, learners can still play courses offline by manually downloading them from the mobile app. Automatic download is not available, but the Play offline option can be enabled by an admin on individual courses.

When shared mode is enabled, devices automatically download courses that:

  • Are visible to the logged-in user.
  • Have the automatic download setting enabled.

Downloaded courses can not display imported activities from other modules or other documents provided with a link.

  • What it can display: Images, uploaded videos, office documents, questions, and cheat sheets.
  • What it can’t display: Videos web links, embedded content, or reused content.

Select a course to be downloaded

Coaches, group admins, and admins can select which courses will be downloaded by mobile devices using shared mode.

First, add the course to the group catalog. Then:

  1. At the top of the homepage, click Courses.
  2. Hover over the course row and click pen.svg Edit.
  3. In the top right corner, click settings.svg Settings.
  4. Enable Automatic download.

Deleting, archiving, or creating a course will automatically update on the mobile device. But updates to a course are not automatically synchronized. You need to disable and then re-enable the option to trigger the synchronization of course updates.

Enable shared mode on the mobile device

Although all users can enable shared mode on a mobile device, we recommend activating it with a platform admin. This ensures all courses marked for download are downloaded.

Once the shared mode is enabled, courses marked for automatic download in the platform will start being downloaded to the device.

  1. Log in to the mobile app.
  2. At the top right of your screen, tap on your profile picture.
  3. Tap settings.svg Settings.
  4. Enable Shared mode.

Synchronization happens when the option is enabled, then once per day.

The attempts and stats of a user are synced back to the platform when they come back online, after having played a course offline. Note that the user must be logged in to the mobile app when they come back online for the synchronization to trigger.
