Notifications can be delivered by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or push notifications.
Platform admins can set the default state for each notification and lock it to prevent users from changing it, except for push notifications, which are fixed and can't be changed by admins or users.
Slack and Teams columns only appear once those integrations are active. See Send notifications to Slack and Send notifications to Microsoft Teams to activate them.
Changes to notification settings may take a few hours to apply.
If a notification is disabled when a triggering event occurs, that notification isn't sent. Turning it back on later doesn't send it retroactively.
Set a default notification setting
Platform admins can set a default notification setting to control its state for users who haven't already customized that notification in their personal settings.
- In the left sidebar, hover over the platform group (the one with a golden crown), then click
Settings.
- If
Settings doesn’t appear in your sidebar, click on the platform group first, then click

- Each row lists a notification Trigger, the action that starts it, for example a learner being enrolled in a path session.
- You can search or filter the table by Category, Recipient, or Lock configuration.
- Click Open next to a notification to see its documentation.
- Turn the toggle in the Email, Slack, or Teams column on or off for the notification.
- You can select every notification in a category to activate or deactivate them together.
- If a user has not changed the state of a notification in their personal settings, the new default state (ON or OFF) applies to them.
- If a user has already changed the state of a notification in their personal settings, later changes to the platform default will not affect them.
- When a user joins the platform, their individual notification settings match the current default settings.
Users can change their notification preferences at any time in their personal settings, unless a platform admin has locked that notification.
Lock a notification setting
Platform admins can lock a notification setting to force the same state for every user, including those who had previously customized it in personal settings, and prevent anyone from changing it afterward.

Settings.

Users can still stop receiving it by using the Deactivate all notifications link in an email footer, or by marking an email as spam, both of which unsubscribe them from every non-mandatory notification, including locked ones.
- If locked while inactive, the notification is disabled for everyone.
