A D-U-N-S number is required to create developer accounts with Google and Apple. Obtain one before creating your Google Play Developer account or your Apple Developer Program account.
What is a D-U-N-S number
The D-U-N-S Number is a unique nine-digit identifier assigned by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) to identify business entities on a location-specific basis. Google and Apple use it to verify your organization's identity during developer account enrollment.
Your business must be recognized as a legal entity: a corporation, limited partnership, or limited liability company. DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, and branches are not accepted.
Large organizations may have multiple D-U-N-S numbers across different entities. Make sure the number you use contains the organization details you want associated with your developer account.
Find or request your D-U-N-S number
Many organizations already have a D-U-N-S Number. Check before requesting a new one.
- If you don't have an Apple ID, create one first.
- Go to Apple's D-U-N-S lookup tool and fill in your company and head office details, then click Continue.
If your organization is not found, request one from Dun & Bradstreet at no cost. Processing generally takes around 5 business days. In France, obtaining a DUNS number requires a SIRET number.
You will receive a confirmation message and an email with your request number.
Your D-U-N-S number will arrive within a few business days.
