Schedule a Slack notification in a path

Path authors can create and send personalized Slack notifications to learners, if the Slack integration is activated on the platform →

The body and button of the Slack notification can be customized.

The notification can be sent right after the previous step, or at a fixed delay after the enrollment date, or the session start date.

In any case, the message is sent to the user only if they meet the criteria at the time of (or after) the step creation. Messages are not sent retroactively.

Add a Slack notification in the path steps

  1. At the top of the homepage, click Paths.
  2. On the right side of the path row, click pen.svg Edit.
  3. At the bottom of the Build your training section, click + Slack message.
  4. Edit the Body of the Slack notification.
  5. At the bottom right, click SAVE.

Use personalized tags in the body of the notification

You can use tags in the text of your notification, that will be replaced by the actual first name, last name, email address or organization of the recipient.

  1. In the section Build your training, click on the Slack message step.
  2. Click in the text area of the Body section.
  3. At the top right of the section, click + Personalization tags.
  4. Click on the variable.
  5. At the bottom right, click SAVE.

Add a button redirecting to the path homepage

You can add a button in your notification, that will redirect to the homepage of your path.

  1. In the section Build your training, click on the Slack message step.
  2. Enable the option Button.
  3. Enter the label for the button.
  4. At the bottom right, click SAVE.

Schedule the notification

The notification can be sent right after the previous step, or at a fixed delay after the enrollment date, or the session start date.

In any case, the message is sent to the user only if they meet the criteria at the time of (or after) the step creation. Messages are not sent retroactively.

  1. In the section Build your training, click on the Slack message step.
  2. In the section Schedule your message, choose an option in the dropdown menu.
    • Right after the previous step: the Slack notification will be sent to the learner as soon as the previous step in the path has been completed.
      • Make sure to move the Slack notification into the correct place in the path steps after saving.
    • After the enrollment date: the Slack notification will be sent a specific number of days after the enrollment date.
      • In the field that appears just below, enter the number of days.
    • After the session start date: the Slack notification will be sent a specific number of days after the session start date.
      • In the field that appears just below, enter the number of days.
    • Before the session start date: the Slack notification will be sent a specific number of days before the session start date.
      • In the field that appears just below, enter the number of days.

Send the Slack notification only if the learner achieves a specific result in the path session

For the options After the enrollment date and After the session start date, you can additionally choose to send the Slack notification only if the learner achieves a specific result in the path session.

  1. In the section Build your training, click on the Slack notification step.
  2. In the section Schedule your message, check the option Only send this message if…
  3. Click the dropdown and select the result of the path:
    • Successful: The learner has completed all mandatory steps in the path, reached the minimum score in all mandatory courses that have one, and completed them in less than the maximum time limit, or more than the minimum time limit.
    • Not successful: The learner has at least one uncompleted step in the path, or the minimum score for at least one mandatory step has not been reached.
    • Completed: The learner completed all steps in the path.
    • Not completed: The learner has at least one uncompleted step in the path.
