Add an assessment to a path

  • Updated

In a path, the assessment step allows an assessor to evaluate a learner’s understanding. It’s often used to determine if the learner receives a certificate.

The assessment step is triggered once every step before it has been either successfully completed, marked as optional, or is itself an assessment step.

  • In a linear path, learners cannot resume the path until the assessment has been completed. After it has been completed:
    • If the assessment is an examination, learners can resume their path if the assessment is passed (they are blocked otherwise, and must be enrolled in a new session).
    • If the assessment is not an examination, learners can resume their path regardless of the assessment result.
  • In a non linear path, learners can play steps after the assessment, even if the assessment is not completed.

Assessing a user is a manual action that must be done by the session instructor or the user’s manager. Assessment validations cannot be undone. Make sure all information entered is accurate before submitting a validation.

Use the assessment to determine if a learner receives a certificate

A typical use case of assessment steps is to determine if the learner receives a certificate. This will not prevent the learner from completing the path.

  1. At the top of the homepage, click Paths.
  2. On the right of a path, click Edit pen.svg .
  3. In the Build your training section, select the assessment step.
  4. In the Assessment sidebar, enable the Examination (certificate required) setting.
    • You must have a certificate in the path, before you can enable this setting.
