Who can use this feature?
|
This feature is disabled by default. To enable this feature in your platform, contact your Client Success Partner (CSP).
Platform administrators can impersonate users to troubleshoot issues or refine platform settings.
User impersonation can be initiated from the user list or a user’s profile, requiring an acknowledgment of a legal notice and a logged reason for the session. Once impersonating a user, all actions are recorded (impersonation logs are available upon request).
To login as another user:
- At the top of the homepage, click Users.
- Find the user you would like to impersonate, under Actions click
.
- Select Login as this user.
- In the window that appears, read through the notes and enter the reason for impersonation under Why are you logging in as this user?.
- Click GENERATE LOGIN LINK.
- Click the generated link to log out of your platform and login as the impersonated user.
- Or click COPY LINK, then paste the link into a private window in your browser. Doing this will allow you to stay logged in to your own platform in your main browser, while impersonating the user in a private browser.
When you are finished with the impersonation session, you can log out of the platform as you would normally, then log back in with your own account.
Things to keep in mind when impersonating a user
Impersonation does not allow for troubleshooting login issues since the impersonator is logged in immediately upon starting the session. For example, if a user encounters a password reset prompt, the admin will not be able to reproduce that experience through impersonation.
Certain platform behaviors should also be considered when using this feature. If a privacy policy, moderation charter, or terms of use requires validation, the impersonator will not be prompted to accept it, but the user will still be required to do so. Similarly, if an onboarding guide is displayed and completed by the impersonator, the user will not see it again.
When impersonating on mobile, the experience depends on whether a mobile app is available. If the 360Learning app is installed, the app will open automatically, logging the admin in as the impersonated user. If there is no app, impersonation will launch in the mobile browser instead.
