Create a custom training section on a group page

Who can use this feature?

  • Platform admins can add the custom training section widget on the platform group page layout to make the widget available to all groups.
  • Group admins can add multiple custom training sections on the page layout of their group only if the widget is made available by the platform admin.
  • With the Customization solution, group admins can add multiple custom training sections on their group page even if the widget isn't made available by the platform admin. For more information about the Customization solution, contact your Customer Success Partner (CSP).
  • Accessible on the Web Application (custom training sections created on the Web application can be accessed from your Mobile device)

A group page is composed of sections called widgets that you can add, delete, reorder, and configure. A custom training section is a configurable widget that displays courses and sessions from a group catalog filtered by tags and in alphabetical order.

Group admins can create a custom training section by selecting the section title and the tags that filter the group catalog. If no courses or sessions in the group catalog are associated with the selected tags, the section is hidden.

  • A group page can display multiple custom training sections.
  • The configuration of the custom training section is not replicated in subgroups.

Learners can click the expander arrow to view up to 16 items, or click See all to access the search results page with the group catalog content filtered by the selected tags.

You can add multiple widgets to your group page to customize the learner experience. For the full list of widgets, see Configure the layout of a group page.

Add a custom training section

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the right-side panel, click ADD WIDGET.
  4. Select Custom training section.
  5. At the bottom right, click NEXT.
  6. Enter a Widget title that will introduce the section on the group page.
  7. Click FILTER THE GROUP CATALOG BY > Tags.
  8. Under Select tags, click plus.svg.
  9. In the dialog box, select the tags you want to associate with the custom training section. You can select as many tags as you wish.
  10. At the bottom right, click SELECT TAGS.
  11. At the bottom right of the right-side panel, click APPLY.

On the group page, the custom training section displays the courses and sessions available in the group catalog filtered by the selected tags, in alphabetical order.

If you select multiple tags, the section displays the content associated with each tag.

The custom training section is the only widget you can add multiple times in the group page layout.

Edit a custom training section

You can edit the title and tags associated with a custom training section:

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the right-side panel, click on the title of the custom training section you wish to edit.
  4. If you wish to edit the section title, enter the new title in the field under Widget title.
  5. If you wish to edit the tags associated with the custom training section:
    • To delete a tag, click  cross.svg next to the tag.
    • To delete all tags, click  bin.svg on the right of Select tags.
    • To add a new tag, click plus.svg under Select tags, select the tag in the dialog box, and click SELECT TAGS.
  6. At the bottom right of the right-side panel, click APPLY.

Schedule the display of the custom training section

You can schedule when each custom training section appears on the group page for all members:

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the right-side panel, click on the title of the custom training section you wish to schedule.
  4. At the right of Schedule display, switch the toggle to the on Switch.svg position.
  5. Select a Start and/or an End date and time.
    • If you select only a Start date, the custom training section will be displayed starting from the selected date.
    • If you select only an End date, the custom training section appears immediately on the group page and will be removed on the selected date.
    • If you select both a Start and an End date, the custom training section will be shown on the group page between the selected dates.
  6. Click APPLY.

You can edit these dates at any time.

To deactivate the display schedule, switch the toggle to the off Switch (1).svg position in step 4. The custom training section will then remain on the group page until you either delete it or set a new display schedule.

Delete a custom training section

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the right-side panel, hover over the custom training section and click bin.svg at the right of the section title.
  4. Click APPLY.

Once you delete a custom training section from your group page, you can't restore it.

  • If a platform admin deletes the custom training section widget from the platform group page layout, all the custom training sections are removed from the group pages.
  • If the platform admin then adds the widget again to the page layout of the platform group, the custom training sections in the group pages are restored with the same title and tags associated.
