Admins and authors can use AI to create a course, either by providing instructions on the objective and intended audience, or by uploading a file (.pdf, .docx or .pptx only).
Our AI assistant Robyn will transform the instructions, or the contents of the file, to create a fully-filled 360Learning course.
The generated course will contain:
- a title and a summary — which may or may not be identical to the document;
- between 3 and 10 cheat sheets — each with a title, a formatted text body, and an Unsplash image related to the topic;
- If the course is generated from a document, the cheat sheets will try to match the original structure of the document.
- AI-generated questions after each cheat sheet (alternating between Single selection, Multiple Choice, and True/False) — unless there is not enough information in the cheat sheet;
- and a final cheat sheet called "Takeaways" — containing the original file, downloadable by learners.
The course will be written in the language of the document, or the title of the course if it’s created by manual instructions (as long as it’s one of the languages supported by the platform).
Create a course by providing instructions (prompt-based)
We’re progressively deploying this feature throughout the quarter, to monitor performance. Rest assured if you can’t see it on your platform right now, we’re aiming at 100% around April 2024.
- At the top right of the homepage, click CREATE → Course.
- Click Blank.
- At the top of the page, enter a title for the course.
- In the AI section below, fill in the fields What is the objective of your course? and Who is this course for? (you can add line breaks by pressing ⇧+↵ on your keyboard).
- Click outside the field, or press the ↵ Enter key on your keyboard.
The course generation starts immediately. When it is finished, the course remains in the edit screen, so you can review and adapt the contents before sharing it.
Create a course by uploading a document
- At the top right of the homepage, click CREATE → Course.
- Click Document.
- Drag & drop the file into the window, or click OR SELECT A FILE and select the file from your computer. The file must:
- contain between 500 characters (1 page) and 100,000 characters (50 pages);
- be in one of the languages supported by the platform;
- contain text (we do not process images) — ideally structured in paragraphs, rather than tables or slides.
The course generation starts immediately, we will send you an email when it’s complete. Click OK, THANKS to close the pop up.
If the course generation is successful, you will receive this email.
If the course generation has failed, you will receive this email. Check that the file meets the criteria listed in step 3, above.
Those emails are sent even if the user uploading the file has all their notifications muted.
Add guidelines for course creation
Admins can add guidelines for the AI assistant to generate courses that align with your company culture, pedagogy goals and compliance.
Those guidelines are defined at the group level. They will automatically apply to all subgroups, until a subgroup has their own guidelines (which will in their turn apply to all its subgroups in the same way).
Add guidelines for company culture
Company culture lets you tweak the tone of voice.
- In the left sidebar, click on a group.
- At the top right, click Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Company culture.
- In Tone of voice, click the dropdown menu and select an option.
- You can select a preset tone of voice, or select Custom and describe it with your own words.
Add guidelines for pedagogy
- In the left sidebar, click on a group.
- At the top right, click Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Pedagogy.
- In Course setup, add instructions regarding the course title and summary.
- In Duration, click the dropdown and select an option for the maximum course duration (short, medium or long). The AI will determine the number of cheat sheets based on that duration.
- In Content, enable or disable Include Key Takeaways. If enabled, the AI will automatically generate a summary cheat sheet at the end of the course, with the list of key takeaways.
- Enable or disable Knowledge check.
- If enabled, click the dropdown below Number of questions per activity and select the number of questions to be generated after each cheat sheet.Â
- If disabled, the AI will not generate any questions.
Add guidelines for compliance
- In the left sidebar, click on a group.
- At the top right, click Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click AI-assistance → Compliance.
- In the text area, add freeform instructions regarding your compliance requirements. Example topics are listed within the text box if it is empty.
If the course was created by uploading a document, we will underline parts that are considered non-compliant.
If the course was created by using instructions, and the topics or contents of the title or instructions are in direct contradiction with the compliance, we will stop the course generation, and display an error message.
Compliance usually concerns:
- Data security
- Confidentiality
- Labor protection (including DEI)
- Environmental law, etc.
It will check also check if generation contents are in relation to different compliance topics provided in the prompt, if yes, it’ll add reference to those compliance laws. For example, if a user generates a course mentioning personal data, AI will automatically add reference to GDPR.
