Translate a group page

Who can use this feature?

  • Platform administrators and group admins can manage the languages available on a group page, and translate the configurable widgets on the group page.
  • This feature requires the Globalization Solution. Contact your Customer Success Partner (CSP) to learn more.
  • Accessible only on the Web Application.

The workflow to make a group page available in a new language is the following:

  1. Add a new language to your group page.
  2. Translate the configurable widgets on the group page:
    1. Translate the carousel.
    2. Translate the custom training sections.
    3. Translate the gallery.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. At the top right of the Page layout panel, click translation.svg Manage languages.
  4. In the Manage languages panel, click plus.svg Add language(s).
  5. Select the language you wish to add.
  6. At the top left of the Add language(s) panel, click arrowLeft.svg.
  7. In the Manage languages panel, click APPLY.
  8. Click CLOSE.

Once your group page has multiple languages, you can select:

Select the source language for a group page

The source language is the language in which the widgets on the group page are created.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. At the top right of the Page layout panel, click translation.svg Manage languages.
  4. At the right of a language, click 3Dots.svg → Set as source language.
  5. Click APPLY.
  6. Click CLOSE.

Select the default language for a group page

The default language is the language in which the widgets on the group page are displayed when the learner's profile language is not available.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. At the top right of the Page layout panel, click translation.svg Manage languages.
  4. At the right of a language, click 3Dots.svg → Set as default language.
  5. Click APPLY.
  6. Click CLOSE.

Delete a language from a group page

To delete the default and source languages, you must first select a new default and a new source languages.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. At the top right of the Page layout panel, click translation.svg Manage languages.
  4. At the right of the language you wish to delete, click 3Dots.svg → Delete.
  5. Click APPLY.
  6. Click CLOSE.

The group page won't display in the learner's profile language if that language is no longer available.

Translate the configurable widgets on the group page

Once you've added new languages to your group page, you can translate every text field of the carousel slides into the new languages. You can also select a different slide image for the new languages.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the Page layout panel, select Carousel
  4. Select the slide you wish to translate.
  5. At the top right, click translation.svg .
    A double panel opens, with the text in the source language on the left and the translation panel on the right.
  6. Optional: If you added multiple languages to your group page, select the language at the top of the right panel.
  7. In the right panel, translate every text field.
  8. At the top right of the image, click pen.svg to select a different image for the new language.
  9. At the bottom of the right panel, click APPLY.
  10. Optional: To translate another slide, click arrowLeft.svg at the top left of the double panel and repeat steps 4 to 9.
  11. Click CLOSE.

If the slides are available in the learner's profile language, the group page will display them in that language. Otherwise, they are displayed in the default language.

Translate a custom training section

Once you've added new languages to your group page, you can translate the title of the custom training sections. The content of the custom training sections displays in the learner's profile language automatically if all the following conditions are met:

  • The courses and paths in the group catalog are translated into the learner's profile language. For more information, see Translate a course and Translate a path.
  • The tags added to the translated courses and paths in the group catalog are translated into the learner's profile language. For more information, see Translate a tag.

To translate the title of a custom training section:

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the Page layout panel, select your custom training section.
  4. At the top right, click translation.svg .
    A double panel opens, with the text in the source language on the left and the translation panel on the right.
  5. Optional: If you added multiple languages to your group page, select the language at the top of the right panel.
  6. In the right panel, translate the Widget title.
  7. At the bottom of the right panel, click APPLY.
  8. Click CLOSE.

If the custom training section titles are available in the learner's profile language, they are displayed in that language. Otherwise, they are displayed in the default language.

Translate a gallery

Once you've added new languages to your group page, you can translate every text field of the gallery into the new languages. You can also select a different block image for the new languages.

  1. In the left sidebar, click a group.
  2. At the top right of the main section, click group-page-layout.svg Page Layout.
  3. In the Page layout panel, select Gallery.
  4. Select the gallery block you wish to translate.
  5. At the top right, click translation.svg .
    A double panel opens, with the text in the source language on the left and the translation panel on the right.
  6. Optional: If you added multiple languages to your group page, select the language at the top of the right panel.
  7. In the right panel, translate every text field.
  8. At the top right of the image, click pen.svg to select a different image for the new language.
  9. At the bottom of the right panel, click APPLY.
  10. Optional: To translate another gallery block, click arrowLeft.svg at the top left of the double panel and repeat steps 4 to 9.
  11. Click CLOSE.

If the blocks are available in the learner's profile language, the group page will display them in that language. Otherwise, they are displayed in the default language.
