You can set up the mode, and add a minimum score, a minimum or maximum duration of a course, in a program template.
You can add an availability date to a course, in a program session.
This article focuses on the options of a course within a program. To edit the contents of a course, see Edit a course.
Add a course
- At the top of the homepage, click Program templates.
- Click on a program template.
- On the bottom, click Course.
- Select a course.
- On the bottom right, click CONFIRM.
Change the mode of a course (Learning, Training, Examination)
The mode of a course determines if, and when, Learners see the correction to questions, and access the contextual forum. It also influences the conditions for receiving a Certificate.
- At the top of the homepage, click Program templates.
- Click on a program template.
- In the course block, select Learning, Training, or Examination.
Learning mode
Correct answers are displayed after each question, and the contextual forum is available throughout the course.
This is the default mode.
Training mode
The learner must reach the minimum score to see the correct answers and the forum (which can be accessed by clicking on the name of the activities on the left). If there is no minimum score, the correct answers and forum are accessible when the learner finishes the last activity of the course.
The learner can change their answers by clicking on the previous activities in the left sidebar, as long as the course isn’t finished.
Once the course is finished, the learner can click on the activities to check the correct answers, and access the contextual forum.
We suggest using this mode in conjunction with a minimum score.
Examination mode
Learners have only one attempt to play the course. If they exit the course before the end, the course will be considered as finished; they will not be able to continue or edit their answers.
Correct answers and the forum are displayed when the learner reaches the last activity of the course, regardless of their score (they can be accessed by clicking on the name of the activities on the left).
Learners can change their answers by clicking on the previous activities in the left sidebar, as long as the course isn’t finished.
Once the course is finished, learners can click on the activities to check the correct answers, and access the contextual forum. Learners can continue the program even if they haven’t reached the minimum score.
Add a minimum score to a course
If the course is in Learning or Training mode, learners will have to start the course over from the start, until they reach the minimum score.
If the course is in Examination mode, learners will not be able to start the course over (they will have to be assigned to a new session).
- At the top of the homepage, click Program templates.
- Click on a program template.
- In the course block, check Minimum score, then enter a value (by default: 70%).
If the course contains an open-ended question, the score of that question will be computed when it is corrected. Depending on the value of the minimum score, and the number of questions in the course, this may block the user in the program until the question is corrected. For example, in a course containing 9 questions and 1 open-ended question, and a minimum score of 70%:
- if the learner answered correctly to 7 or more questions, they will be able to continue the program session without waiting for the correction of the open-ended question — since their score is already above 70%;
- if the learner answered correctly to 5 or fewer questions, they will have to start the course over (if the course is in Learning or Training mode), without waiting for the correction of the open-ended question — since their score will not exceed 60%;
- if the learner answered correctly to 6 questions, they will have to wait for the correction of the open-ended question, to know if they reached the score of 70% and can continue the program, or have to start over.
If the course contains no questions (but the course has a minimum score), learners will be able to continue the program at the end of the course.
If the course is a SCORM course, make sure it contains questions and sends a score element. Otherwise, learners will be blocked at this step.
Add a time limit to a course
You can add a minimum or maximum duration for the course. This option is not available for SCORM courses.
- At the top of the homepage, click Program templates.
- Click on a program template.
- In the course block, check Time limit.
- Select Min or Max, then entre the number of hours and minutes (by default: 5 minutes).
Add an availability date to a course
You can make a course available on a certain date, in a session.
You can change the availability date of a course if no learner has finished it yet, and if no notification about the availability of the course was sent. Learners who started the course when the availability date is postponed instantly lose access to the course.
- At the top of the homepage, click PROGRAM SESSIONS.
- On the right of the name of a session, click Edit.
- In the course block, check Availability.
- In the dropdown menu on the right, choose a date and hour, then click OK.
If learners finished the previous blocks, they will receive a notification.
Further notes:
- An email is sent for each course with an availability date. If you wish to make several courses available on the same day, we suggest adding an availability date on the first course only (to avoid spamming).
- Learners see the list of all courses from the session homepage, even those that have an availability date in the future.
